Insurgent Opens Strong

insurgent_smlThe new feature film, Insurgent, opened at #1 this past weekend as the top grossing film. Congratulations to Venus  Kanani and Mary Vernieu, the casting directors on the film, and to the entire casting team. Cast It was used throughout the casting process, and being the second installment in the Divergent film series, the casting team and the filmmakers were able to access and review not only the current project on Cast It, but also to refer back to the 1st film’s casting options and videos.

Congratulations to Christa Schamberger and Victoria Burkhart, the casting directors on the film. Cast over four months on location in South Africa, the casting team used Cast It throughout the casting process to upload, organize and share actors and video auditions with the filmmakers.

Focus_smljpgWill Smith’s new feature Focus opened as the top grossing movie for the previous weekend. Congratulations to Tiffany Little Canfield, Bernard Telsey, and David Vaccari, the casting directors on the film. The New York-based independent casting team, the Los Angeles-based studio casting department, and the Buenos Aires-based local casting team all worked together via Cast It to upload actors, actor info, audition videos, self-taped audition videos and reels into regionally organized roles. Cast It’s collaborative-focused casting process allows numerous casting personnel to not only upload their own material to a centralized project, but to also review and provide feedback on casting options from other regions associated with the project.

AS-smlAfter its #1 opening weekend, American Sniper continues to experience strong tickets sales leading into its 2nd weekend. Congratulations to Geoffrey Miclat and Eve Streger, the casting directors on this film. Geoffrey, Eve and the studio casting department collaborated throughout the casting process using Cast It as their primary hub for sharing role lists and actor ideas, and uploading and viewing actor audition and reel videos. The casting casting team also received numerous self-taped auditions directly from actors and talent reps that were also managed, stored and viewed on Cast It.

hobbit_five_SMLThe Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies won its third straight weekend as the top grossing movie. Congratulations to the entire casting team on this feature: Victoria Burrows, Amy Hubbard, John Hubbard, Liz Mullane and Miranda Rivers. Cast It was used throughout the casting process for all three of The Hobbit films, lasting over three years, with casting offices uploading actors and videos from the U.S. (New York and Los Angeles), the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia. The production was also able to upload test video footage shot from various locations for the filmmakers to review.

Unbroken Opens

Unbroken opened on Christmas day. Congratulations to Francine Maisler, the casting director on this film, and to the entire casting team. Throughout the casting process, Cast It was used by the casting team, filmmakers and studio execs, to upload, store and share cast lists, actor choices, reel videos, audition videos and feedback. Remote casting directors Nikki Barrett in Australia and Yoko Narahashi in Tokyo were also linked into the project to upload casting choices and actor audition videos, in collaboration with casting in Los Angeles, for the filmmakers to review.

Cast It also produced a separate worldwide actor search and video submissions web site for the production and casting, to help them in their search for actors to play various key roles in the film. Actor submissions were received from across North America, Europe and Australia.
